A Nabatean Amphitheatre and Temple, first century A.D. — Petra

Posted on

A view of the amphitheatre of Petra from across the street, inside a dwelling carved out of the side of the mountain.  An entire city was carved into the cliffs in an extraordinary demonstration of the ability of the Nabatean people to create this incredible city in the south of Jordan.

This second picture shows one of the temples carved into the mountainside.  For perspective in both photos, notice the size of the people!
